Alvarado Appointed to CADA Board
Ron Joseph, the State Director of General Services, has appointed Ron Alvarado to represent the State on the Board of Directors of the Capitol Area Development Authority (CADA) for a term of four years beginning September 1, 2006.
Mr. Alvarado, currently the Chief Administrative Officer at SBM Site Services will fill the position vacated by Aubry L. Stone.
"I am very excited about this opportunity," says Alvarado. "I look forward to contributing again to the continued development of the Capitol Area." Alvarado formerly served as the Executive Director of CADA from 1995 to 2000.

Ron Alvarado has a professional career which has spanned service in both the public as well as the private sector.
Mr. Alvarado has served as Undersecretary of the State and Consumer Services Agency and was confirmed by the State Senate as Undersecretary of the California Health and Welfare Agency where he was responsible for an organization of 34,0000 employees and a combined federal and state budget of over $37 billion dollars. Prior to this State service, Mr. Alvarado spent seven years managing and directing the Sacramento area real estate development portfolio of a national real estate development company and currently heads a local property management and maintenance firm, SBM Site Services.
He has served as a Special Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House, specializing in local government affairs as the president's liaison to locally elected officials and the national organizations representing local government. Prior to that Mr. Alvarado served as an Administrative Assistant at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, as well as a partner in a management and financial consulting organization.
Mr. Alvarado also served as a member of the California State Personnel Board and the California Public Employees Retirement System (CALPERS) Board of Administration. He accomplished his undergraduate studies at the Seattle University, with his Masters Degree in International Studies and Economics from the Monterey Institute of Studies.
The Capitol Area Development Authority was created in 1978 by a joint powers agreement between the State of California and the City of Sacramento to facilitate the development of quality residential and neighborhood commercial development within the Capitol Area Plan.
