Jacqueline Whitelam, AIA
Interim Executive Director
At its October 28, 2011 meeting the Board of Directors of the Capitol Area Development Authority (CADA) appointed Jacqueline Whitelam Interim Executive Director effective January 1, 2012.
Jackie started her professional career working for the State Architect’s Office as a member of the planning team that wrote the 1977 Capitol Area Plan — a progressive plan for the disposition of state-owned properties in accordance with smart growth principles. She has served CADA in many capacities since it was created to implement the residential and neighborhood commercial elements of the Capitol Area Plan. Over the years these wide-ranging administrative responsibilities have included championing CADA’s strategic plan goals to sustain a balance of diverse housing and maintaining organizational excellence.
Jackie is a licensed architect who was a founding member of the City of Berkeley Landmarks Preservation Commission and of the West Sacramento Housing Development Corporation. She holds both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley Campus.
