Area Profile

Population
Sacramento is an abundantly diverse city that has been undergoing much growth and development over the past several years. With a population of 457,514 (as of 2006), the city is a core economic and cultural center of the greater metropolitan area of which it makes up. It is the seventh most populous city in the state of California. Approximately 2 million people live within the Sacramento metropolitan area, and there is an average of 1,252 people per square mile.

Economy
Sacramento has the fifteenth largest economy in the Untied States and it has the second largest tree population per capita in the world.

Climate
It has a Mediterranean climate, where the average temperatures range from the highs at 73° Fahrenheit and the lows at 49°, with an average rainfall of 19.6 inches. For these and numerous other reasons, Sacramento has been referred to as one of the "most livable" regions in the United States.
