EAST END GATEWAY 2 and 3 (16^th and O Street)

For the period April 30 to May 12

During the above two weeks, the contractor will be laying-out and installing the concrete blocks, door frames and frames for arched openings for Site 2.  The City Building inspector will inspect the steel reinforcement bar in the concrete blocks.

The contractor will be installing three levels of concrete blocks on top of the footings, installing underslab electrical and plumbing, forming and pouring concrete columns, and pouring the slab for Site 3.  The City Building inspector will inspect the steel reinforcement bar, plumbing and electric.

UPDATE:  The contractor is scheduled to load and off haul all the excess dirt (EEG2 and EEG3) on Saturday 4/21/12.  Loading will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last for most of the day.  This also means the pedestrian walkway will remain closed Saturday morning until the afternoon.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

EAST END GATEWAY 2 and 3 (16^th and O Street)

For the period March 26 to April 7, 2012

There has been a slight delay in activity as a result of the recent rain and during the next two weeks, the contractor will be installing three levels of concrete blocks on top of the footings for East End Gateway 2.  They will also be installing steel reinforcement bar, underslab electrical conduit and plumbing and pouring the concrete slab.

The contractor will be laying-out and digging the footings that will form the perimeter of the slab for East End Gateway 3.  Once the contractor digs out the footings, they will be installing steel reinforcement bar and sleeves to accommodate electrical and plumbing, pouring the concrete footings and installing the first three levels of concrete blocks on top of the footings.

*Pedestrian Sidewalk on O Street: According to the contractor, the sidewalk is being repaired today.  It will cure over the weekend, but will open for after hour pedestrian use beginning Monday evening (3/26/12).  We apologize for the inconvenience.

The pedestrian side walk on the north side of O Street was damaged yesterday due to the concrete trucks accessing the site during the foundation pour.  The sidewalk is temporary and very thin.  The contractor is currently making arrangements to repair the damaged concrete, however, weather is going to be a factor and may delay the repair work.  In the meantime, the contractor must keep the pedestrian pathway closed to the public at all times until repairs are made due to safety risks.  I apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.  We will let you know when the sidewalk is repaired and the pedestrian pathway is re-opened.  Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter.

The contractor will be laying-out and digging the footings that will form the perimeter of the slab for East End Gateway 3.  Once the contractor digs out the footings, they will be installing steel reinforcement bar and sleeves to accommodate utilities in preparation for pouring concrete.

In mid-March the contractor will begin the above work on East End Gateway 3.

EAST END GATEWAY 2 and 3 (16^th and O Street)

February 10, 2012

During the next two weeks, there will be little activity on site as the contractor architect and structural engineer will be reviewing and approving drawings for the concrete footings and slabs.  During this time, they will be ordering the materials in preparation for pouring the footers several weeks from now.  The contractor will continue dewatering the site during the two week period of February 10 through February 24.  SMUD and AT&T will be installing temporary power and telephone services on East End Gateway 3.  The contractor plans to first complete the installation of the footers and slab on East End Gateway 2 and then will proceed to East End Gateway 3.  During this period, the contractor will continue removing excess soil from the sites.

You may have noticed that the contractor has created pedestrian access on the north side of O Street for use during non-construction times (weeknights and weekends –except on the infrequent Saturdays when construction takes place).  This pedestrian access is limited to non- construction times because of the need to allow full access to the site by construction personnel and for deliveries.  We are happy to allow this limited pedestrian access to try to help minimize the construction impact to the neighborhood.
